Night splints (often called night mouth-guards) are the recommended approach for preventing damage for individuals who suffer from teeth grinding or clenching during the night.
Ongoing teeth grinding behaviour, often known as bruxism, can lead to long-term damage to teeth. It can also lead to pain in the jaw joint. This can be prevented. To minimise and reduce any likelihood of damage, you may simply require a special type of mouth guard, which dentists call a ‘nocturnal bite plate’ or ‘bite splint’.
